Marketplace payout calculator
Marketplace fee schedules change by category and by month, so this asks for your rates rather than guessing them. Put your numbers in and see what is left.
Set from your location. The maths is the same in any currency — only the labels change.
Check your category’s current rate in the seller panel.
Marketplace returns run high in apparel and footwear.
Reverse logistics plus any fee the marketplace keeps.
Sponsored product spend, if you run it.
Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored anywhere.
Why this asks for your rates instead of supplying them
Referral fees on Indian marketplaces vary by category, by price band and by fulfilment method, and they get revised. Any calculator that hardcodes “Amazon charges X%” is wrong for most sellers and stale within a quarter. Your current rates are in your seller panel — use those.
The fees people forget
- Closing fee — a flat per-order charge that hurts most on low-value items.
- Weight-band shipping. Going one gram over a slab can cost more than the packaging.
- Returns. The single largest variable in apparel and footwear, and the one most sellers exclude from their spreadsheet.
- Sponsored ads. If you run them to stay visible, they are a cost of the channel, not a separate marketing line.
- Payment cycle. Not a fee, but money locked for a fortnight is working capital you are financing.
The number that actually matters
Profit per delivered order flatters every marketplace. Profit per order placed — after returns — is what lands in your bank. The gap between those two is the whole argument for or against a channel.
The break-even return rate is the most useful output here. It tells you how much room you have before the channel stops paying, which is a far more practical thing to monitor than margin.
Comparing against your own site
Run the same product through the break-even ROAS calculator for your own website. Marketplaces take a large, certain cut; your own site costs you advertising, which is variable. Whichever leaves more per order placed is where the next unit of effort belongs.
Questions
Where do I find my commission rate?+
In the fee schedule inside your seller panel, under your specific category and price band. Do not use a blog post — the rates are revised.
Should I include GST here?+
Work in the amounts you actually keep. If you are registered and claiming input credit, use ex-GST figures throughout so the comparison is consistent.
Does this cover FBA-style fulfilment?+
Yes — put the marketplace’s fulfilment charge into the shipping field and set your own pick-and-pack to zero.
Why is my break-even return rate so low?+
Because the profit on a delivered order is small relative to what a return costs. That is normal on thin-margin categories and it is exactly why return rate is the metric to watch.
Embed this calculator
Free to use on your own site. Copy this into your page — the attribution line is the only condition.
The paragraph below the iframe is the part that matters: an iframe's contents are served from our domain, so a link inside it is not a link from your page. The paragraph is. The small script just resizes the frame to fit your column — drop it if you prefer, the fixed height still works.
