Meta ads budget calculator

Enter how many leads you want and what a lead currently costs you. This works out the daily budget — and tells you whether it is enough for Meta to actually optimise.

Set from your location. The maths is the same in any currency — only the labels change.

Use your own number if you have one. Otherwise start high and correct after two weeks.

Each one needs its own conversions to learn. Fewer is usually better.

How this works

The arithmetic is trivial — leads multiplied by cost per lead. The part that matters is the third number.

Meta's delivery system needs roughly 50 conversions per ad set per week before it leaves what it calls the learning phase. Below that, it does not have enough signal to find the right people, so cost per lead stays high and swings wildly from day to day. This is the single most common reason a small Indian ad account underperforms: the budget is spread across four ad sets, none of which ever gets enough data.

What to do if the number is too low

A note on cost per lead

If you have never run ads, you do not know your cost per lead and nobody can tell you accurately — it depends on your offer, city, industry and creative. Budget for a first month that buys you the answer rather than the result.

Questions

What is the learning phase?+

The period where Meta is still working out who to show your ad to. Delivery is unstable and cost per result is usually higher than it will settle at. It ends after roughly 50 optimisation events in a rolling seven-day window, per ad set.

Does editing a campaign restart learning?+

Significant edits do — budget changes above about 20%, changing the optimisation event, editing targeting or swapping creative. Small budget nudges usually do not. This is why "leave it alone for a week" is real advice rather than laziness.

Should the budget be daily or lifetime?+

Daily for ongoing lead generation, because it is predictable. Lifetime suits a campaign with a fixed end date, like a festive offer.

Is a higher budget always better?+

No. Spending beyond what your audience size and sales capacity support raises frequency and cost per lead. Scale in steps of roughly 20% and watch cost per lead after each one.

Embed this calculator

Free to use on your own site. Copy this into your page — the attribution line is the only condition.

The paragraph below the iframe is the part that matters: an iframe's contents are served from our domain, so a link inside it is not a link from your page. The paragraph is. The small script just resizes the frame to fit your column — drop it if you prefer, the fixed height still works.
