What do Angi leads cost in 2026? 214 numbers from 25 YouTube videos on Angi, Thumbtack and Google LSA

Contractors and the agencies that work with them put lead invoices, Thumbtack screens and LSA dashboards on YouTube, but that information sits in video, where search engines barely read it. We screened 70 videos found by search and logged every number in the 25 recent ones that gave them.

What Angi leads really cost: cover illustration

Key findings

  • We screened 70 YouTube videos and kept 25 uploaded between 5 November 2025 and 28 October 2026 that state concrete lead numbers for Angi, Thumbtack or Google Local Services Ads: 214 numbers, 183 of them about these platforms or lead marketplaces in general.
  • Only two videos showed real Angi spend. An HVAC company in Ontario paid $80 a lead (the video does not say which dollars) for 60 leads and closed 3 jobs, $1,600 per job. An electrician in Louisiana turned one $24 lead into about $66,000 of work.
  • On Angi's May 2026 earnings call, CEO Jeff Kip said pros pay $50 a lead, win 1 in 7 or 1 in 8, and the average job is about $4,000. Angi's Q1 2026 release reported 105,000 average monthly active US pros, down 22% in a year.
  • Videos claimed a marketplace lead goes to as many as 10 other contractors. Angi's own help pages cap each request at five pros, and Thumbtack limits a customer to five pros in the first four hours.
  • On a podcast about Google Local Services Ads, Sam Preston of the agency Service Scalers read out cost per lead a year apart: roofing $74 to $107, electrical $29 to $43, plumbing $70 to $66. He did not say whether these were LSA only.
  • Only 24.8% of the numbers came from a real account, and 27.6% were worked examples. For Thumbtack it was 1 of 21, and 7 more were prices on one owner's screen.

Angi leads have no published price list. Angi's billing help says only that lead prices vary by task, homeowner location and demand, so the best evidence of what they cost sits in videos where contractors and their marketers show invoices and dashboards. In the past year, two videos showed real Angi spend: an HVAC company in Ontario that paid $80 a lead (the video does not say which dollars) and closed 3 jobs from 60 leads, and an electrician in Louisiana who turned one $24 lead into about $66,000 of work.

Very little of this exists as text. So we searched YouTube for videos on Angi leads, Thumbtack leads and Google Local Services Ads (LSA) costs, and screened the 70 that came up. 25 were uploaded between 5 November 2025 and 28 October 2026 and state concrete numbers. We read every transcript and logged 214 numbers, each labelled as a result from a real account, a figure the platform itself showed, cited data, a rule of thumb or a worked example. Then we checked what the platforms themselves publish, including Angi's latest earnings release.

What Angi leads cost: the two real accounts

Stephen Baker, an SEO marketer, walks through a client's Angi invoice. The client, an HVAC company in Ontario, received 60 leads in 30 days at $80 each, $4,800 in all. He never says which dollars, and the client is Canadian. Twelve never responded, 8 were price shoppers, 15 wanted small repairs, 10 were outside the service area, and 15 were worth quoting. Three became jobs, a 5% close rate and $1,600 per job. He puts the client's time on unqualified leads at 15 to 20 hours a week. After the client moved to SEO, its cost per lead rose to around $100 to $150 (the captions are unclear) and the close rate to 40% to 50%. Baker sells SEO, so read the comparison with that in mind.

The other account went the opposite way. On the Million Dollar Electrician Podcast, Dorian Hayes of Hayes Electrical in Lake Charles describes a $24 Angi lead for a kitchen light ballast that ended in four sales worth about $66,000, after a full electrical upgrade, which he calls hitting the jackpot. He says that without Angi his company would have $65,000 less revenue that year. His coach on the show gives the rule they use: with an average opportunity worth about $1,300, stop and look hard once a lead from any source costs more than $120 to $130.

A third video gives agency data for one trade. In a 77-second Short, Kitchen Remodeling SEO, an agency that works only with remodelers, gives ranges it says come from its client data for what a kitchen remodeling lead cost in 2026, by channel.

ChannelCost per kitchen remodeling lead
SEO and Google Business Profile, at maturity$10 to $63
Google Local Services Ads$25 to $112
Facebook lead ads$5 to $167
Google Ads$150 to $400
Angi, HomeAdvisor and other lead vendors$150 to $600

The agency sells SEO too, and gives only ranges, but it is the one source in our sample that compares the same trade across five channels.

Typical Angi lead prices by trade

The most detailed price list came from LeadTruffle, whose CEO says most contractors report $15 to $85 a lead, with roofing and remodeling regularly above $100. LeadTruffle sells lead-response software with an Angi integration. These are LeadTruffle's estimates; Angi publishes no prices.

TradeTypical Angi lead price (LeadTruffle's estimate)
Roofing$50 to $120+
General remodeling$50 to $100+
HVAC$45 to $100
Plumbing$40 to $85
Electrical$35 to $80
Garage door$35 to $75
Landscaping$25 to $55
Pest control and locksmith$25 to $50
Handyman and small jobs$15 to $40
Cleaning$15 to $35

He adds 20% to 25% for a major metro, puts the membership at about $300 a year on top of leads, and says ending a 12-month contract early costs 30% to 35% of what is left on it. Next Level Roofing Supply, working from reviews and complaints, cites cancellation fees of $1,000 to $2,000. The Angi help pages we read do not state a membership fee or cancellation terms.

Angi's own number is simpler. On its earnings call on 6 May 2026, chief executive Jeff Kip said pros pay $50 a lead and win 1 in 7 or 1 in 8, and that the average job is about $4,000. On those figures a won job costs $350 to $400 in leads, about a tenth of the job. He also said that of 10 homeowners who submit a job, about 7 get it done but only 2 hire an Angi pro. PushLeads uses the same $50 and 1 in 8 for marketplaces in general.

Angi's Q1 2026 earnings release adds context. Average monthly active pros in the US fell 22%, from 134,000 to 105,000, and 5% left each month, against 4.5% a year earlier. Revenue per lead fell 5%, which Angi puts down mainly to sending subscription pros more leads than their contracts cover. Its billing help says you set a monthly budget and a lead can take you over it. Its leads FAQ says you are charged for leads whether or not you open or respond to them, that Opportunities are not charged if you do not respond, and that in some cases you can request a credit for an invalid lead.

Angi's leads business is the former HomeAdvisor. In 2023 the FTC finalised an order requiring HomeAdvisor to pay up to $7.2 million. The FTC alleged that it misrepresented the quality and source of its leads and how often they became jobs.

How many contractors get the same lead

Eight videos put a number on how many businesses share one lead.

The platforms' current rules set a lower ceiling than the highest claims. Angi's leads FAQ says each request is matched with no more than five pros, which Imprint Digital reads out. Angi's Q1 2026 release counts 4.42 million leads from 3.52 million requests, 1.26 per request on average, though that average includes bookings that go to a single pro. Thumbtack's Quality Commitment lets a customer contact at most five pros in the first four hours, shows you how many were contacted, and refunds the lead if the customer replies to nobody within 72 hours. Ten other roofers on one lead is more than Angi's current rules allow.

Thumbtack: prices on screen, few results

The only owner showing a Thumbtack account was Affordable services 760, a handyman and junk removal business around Barstow, California. Eight lead prices on his screen ran from $8.22 for a washer and dryer haul to $29.44 for a three-bedroom house clean, which he turned down as out of his range. He values the junk jobs he keeps at $500 to $600. He pays $15 for process-serving leads and calls that nothing. The one big Thumbtack figure was secondhand: Imprint Digital's story of a plumber who paid $250 for a water heater lead the customer then gave to someone else for $500. In an illustration, Steve Hunsaker puts a closed Thumbtack job at about $300, $200 with better economics and $500 when it goes badly.

Thumbtack's help centre says pros now set an exact price per lead for each service, and a higher price makes you more competitive. A weekly budget caps spending, but the lead that uses up your budget can take you over it by up to 40% of the budget or $40 plus 2% of the budget, whichever is less. Thumbtack may also raise its minimum prices, and prices set at or near the minimum can rise with them.

Google Local Services Ads cost per lead in 2026

LSA got the most attention: 99 of the 214 numbers, from 14 videos. The only trade-by-trade comparison came on John Wilson's Owned and Operated podcast, where Sam Preston of the agency Service Scalers read out cost per lead now against a year earlier. Four of the five trades went up.

Google Local Services Ads cost per lead by trade, late 2026 against a year earlier
Figures read out by Sam Preston, CEO of the agency Service Scalers, on a podcast uploaded 28 October 2026. The host asked whether they were LSA only or all channels, and he did not say; nor did he say which accounts they cover.

Real accounts sit in the same range. TM Blast shows a client at about $55 a lead when he took over, $50 in February 2026 and $44 in March, from 57 charged leads and just under $2,500. He moved budget from the same client's Google Ads, where a phone call cost $65 to $70. On an earlier episode of Wilson's podcast, Preston cited an average LSA lead of $53, without a source, against $149 for a non-branded search lead. The two are not like for like: the LSA figure includes branded searches and locksmith leads at about $5. He credited an average LSA return of 7.84 to Searchlight's data.

What agencies and owners on YouTube say a Google Local Services Ads lead costs
Selected ranges and real figures as stated; bars use the middle of a range. Kitchen Remodeling SEO and TM Blast report client accounts; Sam Preston gave the $53 blended average without a source; the rest are typical ranges. Surfside PPC also sees some accounts at $100 to $300+, and PushLeads gives $20 to $300 as an industry ballpark.

Season matters too. Building Blocks Digital sees HVAC phone leads at $45 to $55 in peak season and $70 to $80 in slow months, with message leads at 50% to 60% of the phone price. In another video the same agency recommends LSA for plumbing and HVAC firms doing at least $250,000 a year, on a budget of at least $1,000 to $2,000 a month. PushLeads starts the weekly budget at 10 times the expected cost per lead and runs it for about four weeks. On his own accounts, Wilson says LSA usually returns 6 to 8 times its cost, though his two biggest accounts were at 3 times over a slow 30 days.

What changed in Local Services Ads in 2026

ChangeWhat it means
LSA moves into Google Ads as a Performance Max campaign with pay-per-lead goals, in phases: selected US home service advertisers from August 2026, service-area businesses later in 2026, non-US accounts in 2027Email 14 days before, reminder 7 days later. Max cost per lead bidding goes; one target cost per lead (target CPA) for the whole campaign. Old performance reports do not transfer, so download them first
Weekly budget becomes a daily averageWeekly budget divided by 7; monthly spend capped at the daily average times 30.4
Missed calls charged from 1 October 2026A missed call in business hours is a charged lead if the caller stays on the line more than 20 seconds
Credits are automaticGoogle credits leads it judges invalid, usually within 30 days; it no longer credits "job type not serviced" or "geo not serviced"

Sources: Google's migration page, its page on how leads are charged, PPC Land on the 1 October start date, and Google's page on credits. On disputes the videos disagree. Michelle Kop says leads have not been disputable for a year or two, while Preston says his agency's disputes are now accepted about 30% of the time, against about 10% before. Google's current help describes automatic credits and a "Rate this lead" survey. The move is gradual: on the late-October episode, one of the two said about half of their accounts were still on the old campaigns.

Where the numbers came from

Share of lead cost numbers from real accounts, worked examples and platform screens, by platform
Share of all numbers about each platform. The rest are the other source types: platform figures, rules of thumb, worked examples and cited or secondhand figures.

Most numbers in these videos are not from anyone's account. Only 24.8% came from a real account, and 27.6% were worked examples. For Thumbtack, 1 of 21 numbers came from a real account and 7 more were prices on one owner's screen. 17 of the 25 videos are by agencies, and many sell the alternative they recommend. The real accounts are few, but the platforms' own documents back up the main complaints: a lead can go to several pros, you pay whether or not you win, and Angi's CEO puts the win rate at 1 in 7 or 8.

What we would take from this

  1. Judge every source on cost per booked job. Baker's client paid $80 a lead and $1,600 per job. Hayes paid $24 for a lead worth about $66,000. Neither number is visible in the price per lead.
  2. Answer fast, and answer live. LSA now charges for missed calls over 20 seconds. PushLeads says contractors who do well answer at least 75% of calls live and reply to messages within 15 minutes.
  3. Record the source of every job. Wilson says he does not know how he ran his business before he could tie each lead to the channel it came from. Without that you cannot compare Angi, LSA and ads.
  4. Test a channel where the lead comes only to you. Hayes's first Facebook campaign cost $980 in a month for 115 leads and 11 booked appointments, about $90 each. He says the bottleneck was calling back leads that came in after hours and at weekends.

Our study of 169 home services keyword prices shows what a click costs if you advertise on Google yourself, our LSA guide covers setup, and our Facebook ads cost study covers Meta. Every account whose location is stated is in the US or Canada; LSA accounts outside the US move into Google Ads in 2027. If you run a home service business in the US, UK, Canada or Australia and advertise on Google or Meta alongside Angi or Thumbtack, give us read access to those ad accounts. A senior buyer will write a free audit of where the spend goes, whether your tracking counts real calls and leads, and the three things we would fix first. It takes about two working days and the document is yours. If you have not run ads yet, say so and we will write a plan instead. We found videos through web searches of YouTube for Angi leads, HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack leads and Google Local Services Ads cost, budgets, disputes and the 2026 move into Google Ads. Of 70 videos screened, we left out 36 uploaded before 1 November 2025 (several had "2026" in the title), 3 that were private or removed, 5 with no concrete cost or budget number, and 1 whose only number conflicts with Google's current help page. We left out Shorts except one, Kitchen Remodeling SEO's 77-second Short, kept because it gives agency client data by channel.

We read each transcript and logged every lead price, fee, budget, lead count, close rate, cost per job and return once, with its timestamp. Each is labelled as a result from a real account, a figure the platform itself showed or published, cited data or a secondhand report, a rule of thumb, or a worked example (an illustration of the maths). Claims about several marketplaces at once are grouped as "lead marketplaces in general".

We dropped 8 numbers: 4 from a sponsored Yelp ad read, 2 of the figures one video attributes to an Angi shareholder letter (one of them, a 17% rise in price per lead, conflicts with Angi's Q1 2026 release, where revenue per lead fell 5% and 17% is the growth in proprietary service requests), a "30 seconds" call rule that conflicts with Google's help page, and an arithmetic slip in a worked example. Where auto-captions garbled a number we used what the speaker said elsewhere: the electrician's $24 lead totals about $66,000 across four sales of $28,000, $8,200, $16,000 and $13,800 (captions "$66,79").

Most of these videos come from agencies and software companies that sell an alternative to lead marketplaces (SEO, ads, call handling, lead-response software), and 5 of 25 feature business owners, 3 of them podcasts with coaches or an agency guest. The real results are a handful of accounts, and creators choose what to show. The Ontario HVAC video never says which dollars it means. None of this is our own client data. The CSV lists every number with a link to its video and timestamp.

Questions about Angi leads and LSA costs

How much do Angi leads cost?

Angi publishes no price list. Its CEO said on the May 2026 earnings call that pros pay $50 a lead. LeadTruffle's estimates run from $15 to $35 for cleaning to $50 to $120+ for roofing. The two real accounts in our videos paid $80 (dollars not stated, Canadian client) and $24 a lead.

How many contractors get the same Angi lead?

Angi's help pages say each request is matched with no more than five pros. Videos claimed anything from 3 contractors up to 10 other roofers. Angi's Q1 2026 release counts 1.26 leads per request on average, including bookings that go to one pro.

Are Angi leads worth it?

It depends on your close rate and job value. One HVAC company in Ontario paid $80 a lead, closed 3 of 60 and spent $1,600 per job. An electrician turned a $24 lead into about $66,000 of work. Track cost per booked job by source before you decide.

How much do Google Local Services Ads cost per lead?

Surfside PPC puts the typical LSA lead at $40 to $70, with some accounts at $100 to $300 or more; PushLeads gives $20 to $300 as an industry ballpark. One agency CEO read out late 2026 figures of $107 for roofing, $66 for plumbing, $60 for HVAC, $43 for electrical and $34 for appliance repair, without saying whether they were LSA only.

What changed with Google Local Services Ads in 2026?

From August 2026 Google began moving LSA campaigns into Google Ads in phases, as Performance Max campaigns with pay-per-lead goals. Weekly budgets become daily and manual cost per lead bids go. Since 1 October 2026, missed calls over 20 seconds in business hours are charged.

How much do Thumbtack leads cost?

Pros set their own price per lead for each service. Lead prices shown in one handyman and junk removal owner's account ran from $8.22 to $29.44, and he says he pays $15 for process-serving leads. One plumber's secondhand story put a water heater lead at $250.
